Our Day

Start of school

The school gates open at 8.30am each day.  Parents/responsible adults should drop their children to school via one of the main gates where they will be greeted by a member of staff and welcomed into the playground.  To reduce congestion in the playground and to ensure the safety of all children once they enter school we do not permit adults to enter the grounds in the morning.  Children are led to their classrooms at 8.30am to allow them to start their lessons promptly at 8.45am.

At the end of the school day (3.15pm) you may come into the playground to collect your child and will have an opportunity to meet the class teacher should you wish to share any messages.  In the afternoon, when entering or exiting the gates, please keep to the left to avoid congestion.

We expect all children to be accompanied to and from school in years Reception to year 5.  If your child is in years 5 or 6 and you would like them to travel unaccompanied a written request MUST be provided in advance.

Please ensure children walk their bikes and scooters on school grounds to help ensure the safety of all adults and children during this busy time.

We would like to thank you all in advance for the commitment you show to ensuring your children arrive to school before 8.45am ready to learn and the consideration of safety displayed whilst on school grounds.   ‚Äč

We have a morning break from 10:15am to 10:30 am for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 from 10:30am – 10:45am. Key Stage 1 have a break again in the afternoon at 14:00 to 14:15pm. We have two playgrounds, a large field and an outdoor adventure course for climbing.

Lunch is served in our dining hall and is cooked on site. We provide a exciting new menu of hot meals at or children can choose to bring their own healthy packed lunches. If your child is entitled to, or you think they are entitled to free school meals then please contact London Borough of Brent. Most of you will be aware that local councils are facing significant cuts to their budgets and this is likely to result in a reduction of funding. In order to get the money that Preston Park Primary School is entitled to, we ask that parents who qualify for FMS apply for them even if they do not wish to take them up.

Afterschool Activities

At Preston Park, children can apply to join a large range of lunchtime or after school clubs run by staff within the school, these include, Nature and Wildlife, Arts and Crafts, Internet Cafe, Football and many more. Please look at our clubs page for more information

Afterschool Club

After school club starts at 15:30pm in the school dining hall by our staff.  There is food available for the children and the club closes at 17.45pm. Please ensure that you collect your child promptly.

Mobile Phones

Just a reminder that mobile phones are not permitted in school. The only time mobile phones are allowed in school is if your child is walking home by themselves (Y5 and Y6 only). If this is the case, the phone must be clearly labelled with name and class cello-taped on the back of the phone. The phone must be brought through the gates switched off. At registration, the class teacher will collect the mobile phones in and they will be locked in the school safe. At the end of the day the children will be given back their phones. They can be switched on outside the school gates.
