Curriculum

At Preston Park Primary School we have a broad and balanced curriculum, which covers all the objectives and requirements of the new curriculum, with further enrichment and cross curricular opportunities.
Our curriculum is enshrined in our beliefs that all children in our school must be provided with equal opportunities to access learning in an inspirational and culturally sensitive curriculum as defined by the Convention of the Rights of the Child.

We aim for our curriculum to meet the emotional, physical and cognitive needs of our learners with a strong emphasis on building the traits to being a lifelong learner. As well as high academic standards, this means we will provide opportunities for all our pupils to develop the character and resilience they need to succeed in modern Britain.

Each Year group has year group has an Overview for the year and curriculum map for each term.
You can see the content for the curriculum in each year group, either through the Year Overviews, or in the detailed subject curriculum maps. See below.
Our curriculum policy outlines our approach to learning and teaching in each curriculum area and can be found here.
At Preston Park Primary School, we have a thorough early reading and writing curriculum. We follow the guidance and progression set out by Letters and Sounds, a DFE publication, and use this in conjunction with some resources and texts produced by Read Write Inc. and Oxford University Press.
